Description Teaching Objective:
Through a study of the encounter between the leading Medieval thinkers and the ancient Greek culture, this course aims at understanding the contributions of these prominent figures to the development of theology and philosophy.

Teaching Content:
This course consists of two sections. The first section focuses on introducing the ideas and contributions of the prominent thinkers in the Middle Ages, including: the apologetic fathers, St. Augustine, Boethius, St. Anselm, Avicenna, Averroes, St. Bonaventure, St. Thomas Aquinas, Bl. Duns Scotus and William of Ockham. The second section aims at studying how these Medieval thinkers handle the conflict between ancient Greek philosophy and the teachings of Christianity, for example, Creation, unity of virtue and immortality of soul.
