Description Teaching Objective:
Hans Urs von Balthasar (1905-1988) was dedicated to writing and to pastoral theology, with the aim to build dialogue between faith and culture, especially between the great mysteries of Western philosophical tradition and Eastern theological tradition. He was considered as one of the greatest and prolific Catholic thinkers of the 20th century. Both the volume of his works and the breadth of his writings have confirmed that he was spiritually and intellectually gifted. He was not only a spiritual director, but also a theologian, writer, translator, editor, organizer of a major book series and founder and leader of a Christian community. This course aims to introduce students to his theology.

Teaching Content:
To introduce the life, thought and writings of von Balthasar, especially his theological trilogy: Theological Aesthetics, Theology Drama and Theological Logic.
