| Description | Teaching Objective: 1. To understand the basic knowledge of different Religions 2. With an open-mind and sincere-heart to have the interreligious dialogue Teaching Content: This course consists in a basic presentation of religious thought in China and in the West. Chinese religious thought is fundamentally non-systematic, while Western religious thought has a long tradition of systematic philosophical reflection. Chinese religion emphasizes self-reliance, Western religion emphasizes reliance on God. Both, however, contain a rich store of wisdom which can contribute to the full development of a truly human life. The spiritual atmosphere of this course will not be that of criticism, but rather that of appreciation, dialogue, contemplation. Religious faith goes beyond mere philosophy. Philosophy, however, can explain some aspects of religious faith. Religious faith transcends human reason, but does not reject human reason.
