Description | Teaching Objective: Using a historical and pastoral approach in studying the development of Christian ministry. On one hand, it helps the students to recognize how “ministry” flows from pastoral concerns, it arises from and for the community, serving for one another. On the other hand, it goes further to look into the deeper meaning of baptismal call and the role of laity in the Church, so as to enhance a conscious fuller participation in the Church and being an active witness of Christ in the world. Teaching Content: 1. History of the development of Christian ministry 2. What is Christian ministry? Its essential elements, tasks and goals 3. What is lay ministry? The current understandings and controversies 4. How to live out our Mission in the life of the Church and in the world as a lay person?
