Description | Teaching Objective: In light of the teaching of Lumen Gentium of Vatican II on the Church, the main objective of this course is to give students the fundamental, general and basic knowledge of the nature and the structures of the Catholic Church. Teaching Content: The content of this course includes 7 parts. (1) An introduction to the methodology and historical development of Ecclesiology; (2) The Church in the New Testament; (3) Different biblical images and theological models of the Church of Christ; (4) The four marks of the Church: One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church; (5) The hierarchical structure of the Church: Episcopate and papacy; (6) The vocation and mission of the faithful in the Church; (7) Contemporary theological discussions on the Church.
