Description | Teaching Objective: The main objective of the course focuses on some specific themes of Mariology developed in the works of the Church Fathers in the early Christianity. The significance of these themes to contemporary theological thinking is also discussed. Teaching Content: This course is a specialized research on the Biblical foundation and historical development of the dogmas regarding Mary in the Catholic faith. Mary’s role in the salvation history will be explored by way of investigation into some important themes deliberated by the Church Fathers in the Christian Tradition, for instance, Mary and Eve, Mary as the Archetype of the Church, etc. Some particular theological problems in the ecumenical dialogue with other Christian Churches are also included in the research.
