Description | Teaching Objective: This course introduces the history of Western philosophy from the Renaissance to the end of the 19th century, including the important philosophers and their thoughts. It also studies how modern science and technology change the ways of thinking, the influences of scepticism, and how the philosophical thoughts in the modern period differ from the medieval ones. Teaching Content: 1. Important philosophers and their thoughts such as Descartes, Kant, and Hegel 2. Major philosophical traditions such as rationalism and empiricism 3.
