Description | Teaching Objective This course will introduce the fundamental categories of meta-ethics in the philosophical perspective and the major approaches of normative ethics. It will approach the respective categories with the viewpoints of the representative philosophers. Teaching Content: This course will introduce the fundamental categories of Western philosophical meta-ethics including ethic/morality, happiness/pleasure, utility, duty, virtue, justice, natural law, volition, conscience (synderesis), love/desire, etc. along with three major approaches of normative ethics (teleological/consequentialist ethics, deontological ethics, virtue ethics) by the standpoints or theories of some representative philosophers.
