| Description | Teaching Objective: The seven Sacraments of the Church were instituted by Christ. The Sacraments of Initiation include Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist. Through Baptism, which is the gateway to the other sacraments, a person is freed from sin, reborn as a child of God, configured to Christ and incorporated into the Church as the People of God. Through Confirmation, a Christian is strengthened by the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the life of faith, and bears witness to the faith more actively by word and deed. Through the Eucharist a Christian, participating in the Paschal Mystery, i.e., the Death and Resurrection of Christ by which He redeemed mankind, receives the Bread of Life and experience the Eucharist as the source and summit of all worship, Christian Life and the apostolate of the Church. This is an introductory course on the above three sacraments from the perspectives of Canon Law and pastoral care. Teaching Content: Code of Canon Law, Canons 840 – 848, 849 – 958 (Introductory Canons on the Sacraments, and Canons on the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist).
