Description | Teaching Objective: To introduce the study of Church history from its origins to the 13th century; to study the development of ecclesiastical history, through classroom reading of historical sources, considering its main issues and aspects Teaching Content: The course examines the history of Christianity from Jesus Christ and the New Testament to the thirteenth century. It covers historical events and important themes that shaped the ancient and medieval Church. The student will be able to (a) develop the chronology of ancient and medieval Church history, (b) identify the main figures of this era, (c) recount the key events in the first thirteen centuries of Church history, and (d) discuss the important historical and theological themes of this period.
