Description Teaching Objectives:
This course aims to introduce students to the principles and frameworks of ecological ethics, and to critically examine the relationship between human communities and the natural environment. Students are encouraged to conduct ethical reflection on sustainability, justice, and responsibility in ecological contexts.

Teaching Contents:
This course explores ecological ethics through philosophical, cultural and religious traditions, social sciences foundations, applied case studies, and global perspectives. Students will engage with theories, debates, and practices that shape ecological responsibility in the contemporary world. Foundations of ecological philosophy and other disciplines, such as anthropocentrism vs. eco-centrism, human rights, deep ecology, ecofeminism, and environmental justice, sustainability will be introduced. Cultural perspectives on ecology, such as Confucian relational ethics and Daoist perspective on nature will be discussed. Applied ethics or case studies, such as climate change, biodiversity, pollution and food ethics, will be employed to examine various contemporary issues.
