Description | Teaching Objective: To help students who have never studied philosophy to establish a brief foundation in Western philosophy, to guide students to understand the mutual influence between Western philosophy and the development of theology, and to learn to reflect on the content of theology through philosophical thinking. Teaching Content: 1. Introduces the early historical development of Western metaphysics. 2. Explores the early Greek philosophy of natural philosophy and its thoughts on the beginning. 3. Introduces the development of metaphysics: understanding the thought systems of Plato and Aristotle and their similarities and differences. 4. Introduces the development of patristic philosophy and scholastic philosophy, especially the thoughts of St. Augustine and St. Thomas.
