Description | Teaching Objective: The objective of the course is to introduce the students to the method of moral theology and to help them attain a fundamental capacity of making Christian discernment of moral values so that they can make good moral decisions in a plurality of cultures. Teaching Content: Methods of moral theology, post-Vatican II moral theology, the encyclical "Veritatis Splendor" and the ethical sections of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the uniqueness of Christian ethics, biblical foundations, the tradition of natural moral law, the concept of moral good, human nature and the body, Church teachings, human freedom, fundamental option, the morality of human actions, conscience, sin and conversion, positive law, and virtues. Help students understand and apply the Church's fundamental ethical perspective to specific cases. Teaching Mode: Lecture and Personal Reading Assessment Mode: Written Examination |
