| Description | Teaching Objective: A comprehensive study on Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation among the Sacraments of Initiation, in respect of their biblical foundation, Liturgical Traditions, dogmatic teachings, and pastoral application. Teaching Content: 1. Water, Air, Oil, Food, Rites of passage in terms of Anthropology and as indicated in the Old Testament 2. Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan, Baptism and teaching in the New Testament 3. From the New Testament Era to the 4th Century: Early Church Documents, patristic sources and the Initiation Rites and Theology 4. 4-5th Centuries: documents, patristic sources, evolution of initiation rites in Eastern and Western, Lent and Holy Week practices in Jerusalem 5. Initiation rites from the Medieval Ages to the Liturgical Reforms of Vatican II 6. Baptism and its Theology in major Christian Traditions after the Reformation, and the Catholic Church response 7. Structure and Spirit of Christian Initiation, General Introduction and Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, Vatican II 8. Infant Baptism, Historical Development, Liturgy, and Contemporary Issues 9. Sacrament of Confirmation in the Catholic Church : Practice, Theology and Pastoral issues 10. Liturgical space of the Sacraments of Initiation : through Church Architecture 11.
