| Description | Teaching Objective: This course aims to familiarize students with the traditional arguments for and against the existence of God in Western philosophy. It will investigate the debate from the viewpoint of contemporary philosophy and explore the different ways of approaching the question of God today. Teaching Content: St. Anselm’s ontological argument, St. Thomas’ five ways, Kant’s critique of the traditional proofs of God’s existence, traditional understanding of the essence of God, the problem of evil and suffering, some contemporary thinkers’reflections and developments regarding the question of God.
