Description | Teaching Objective: This course aims to foster a deep theological knowledge of Mary, recognizing her as a "compendium of truths" and a central "place of convergence" within theology, highlighting the interconnectedness of God's saving plan. Students will understand the core concepts and significance of Mariology, analyze its biblical foundations, trace the historical development of Marian doctrine and dogmas, explore Mary's essential role in Christology and ecclesiology, engage with contemporary theological perspectives, and apply Marian theology to their spiritual lives. Teaching Content: This course covers the fundamental concepts of Mariology, including its definition, significance, and the theological meaning of the titles given to the Virgin Mary by the Church Fathers. It also examines Mary from the theological perspective of the Second Vatican Council. The course is divided into three main sections: a) Biblical Section: Focuses on interpreting the revelation concerning the Virgin Mary in Sacred Scripture. b) Historical-Dogmatic Section: Explores the development of Marian doctrine from the Church Fathers to the present day, with an in-depth analysis of the four Marian dogmas. c) Systematic Theology Section: Reflects deeply on Mary’s role in the mysteries of Christ and the Church, engaging in dialogue with contemporary theological thought.
